“YOU SAW ME CRYING IN THE CHAPEL”
Chocolates, rose petals, paper tissues, a confession box, and other means
are part of an interactive installation by artist Heike Liss.
Ecclesiastic rituals, profane customs, and fleshly needs come into play
at the chapel of La Corbière in the month of July.

CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS: SIN
Sin with delicious, handmade chocolates
“Be a sinner, and sin well” -Martin Luther

YOU SAW ME CRYING IN THE CHAPEL: SUFFER
Shiatsu Massage (pressure point massage) can be painful.
On the other hand, it does bring relieve and distraction.
“Life is full of misery, loneliness, and suffering –
and it's all over much too soon.” -Woody Allen

SEX, LIES AND RADIO: CONFESS
a public confession of small (and bigger) transgressions
will relieve your conscience enormously!
“The more sins you confess, the more books you will sell.” - Ninon de Lenclos

THIS SUCKS: LAMENT
Annoyed? Upset? Angry? The daily confrontation with nuisances can make life difficult.
Community members, as well as visitors to the Village Nomade now have the possibility to blow off some of that steam by writing in the complaint book. Those in need can lament, moan, whine,
kvetch and wail, and will be provided with a comforting reply within 24 hours.
“I personally believe we developed language because of our deep inner need to complain.” -Jane Wagner

CLEAN BODY, CLEAN MIND: CLEANSE
Enjoy a soothing footbath in rosewater, followed by a relaxing foot massage,
and possibly a dash of nail polish (“Baby Rose” by Chanel….)
“The feet are far away from the head.
That’s probably why they are forgotten so often.” -www.lauftip.ch

THERE SHALL BE LIGHT: ENLIGHTENMENT
For this, we light a candle:
“Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.
After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.” –Zen Proverb

We invite all Members of Laboratoire Village Nomade to join us – come and celebrate our community, see what’s been going on, share a meal, give us your feedback, or simply enjoy this beautiful place. Becoming a member is always possible, and it’s easy to do! If you enjoyed your time here this might be a good moment to consider giving something back, so that we can continue to offer more opportunities and develop new programs in the years to come. At the basic level it doesn’t cost more than the price of a dinner for two, and every donation helps us to plan and to grow, rather than merely to survive. Since we started three years ago we have offered a different kind of opportunity for artists of all disciplines and at all levels of experience, and the creative energy, originality, and commitment of our many guests continues to resonate.

“Being a part of the community at La Corbière has enabled me to engage in fruitful and often unexpected dialogues, to find the space and peace to develop my work, to rediscover the essential impetus that made me want to make music in the first place, to trade ideas with stimulating company (of all ages) from all over the world, to get my hands dirty, to be in the moment. It has given me so much that I can no longer imagine my life without it. I’m sure Heike would say the same. Becoming a member was a privilege, and the least we could do. Our kids love it too!”
Fred Frith
